While serving as a Lead Teacher, I was a mentor to multiple teachers and eventually became an Instructional Coach for a K-12 school. I have always loved teaching students and teaching teachers and staff. Because I did not follow the usual path to teaching, I was able to create highly engaging content for my students and learned how to share these strategies with other teachers and staff. Lessons, strategies, and systems had to be engaging, effective, consistent, and time-efficient. I love seeing students have that AHA! moment when they understand a concept and when teachers have that AHA! moment when they connect with their students. The best result is when students and teachers feel their classroom is a learning sanctuary where they can feel safe, respected, and appreciated.

My love for teaching began when I started teaching surf lessons while managing a local surf shop. My best friend recommended I try teaching because she saw how well I connected with kids. In 2008, I started substitute teaching and fell in love with the field, earned my Professional Teaching Certificate and then earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership, M. Ed., from the University of Florida.

When I am not teaching or advising, I am surfing, taking my 5 dachshunds on trails, Crossfitting, gardening, and finding new ways to make better habitats for all of my pets and local wildlife: turtles, tortoise, fish, snails, shrimp, frogs, bees, and more.
